Sodexo Rises to the Challenge

Sodexo Motivation Solutions recently completed The Sandhurst Business Challenge, a unique teambuilding event taking place at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, in order to raise funds for “Help for Heroes”, a charity founded in 2007 to support members of the Armed Forces who have been wounded in service.

The Sodexo team – called ‘Team Motivation’ – included Jackie Smith, national business manager;  Monica Newman, production manager; Christine Rodriguez, CRM manager; Ian Blundell, IT manager, and Phillip Townend, marketing manager. The two-day event was designed to test each team’s intellectual and physical abilities using disciplines taken from sport, the military and business.

‘Team Motivation’ completed every challenge the Army threw at them, including ‘island hopping’, moving hazardous chemicals with nothing more than rope, codebreaking, stretcher bearing, hero rescue, the Sandhurst army assault course, spider net navigation, obelisk build assessment, lots and LOTS of trekking, culminating with the obligatory raft building and paddling across the lake.

The event was all in the best possible cause – raising money for the Help for Heroes charity supporting members of the Armed Forces who have been wounded in service.

Marketing manager Phillip Townend commented, ‘the two days were physically very hard however our team working and co-operation was excellent and we finished the course in great spirit although we were very, very tired!’
